Crisscut Diamonds

Crisscut Diamonds

With 77 facets compared to the 44 used in normal emerald cut stones, Christopher Slowinski's Crisscut diamonds are unmistakable in their fire and brilliance. The increased number of facets, along with the way each stone is meticulously cut, adds a whole new dimension of beauty, radiance and perfection to his jewelry.

The Cushion shape, otherwise known as the Old-Mine Cut, was once the most popular cut of diamond, but because there were no set proportions, it was very difficult to find two matching stones. These varying levels of size caused the Cushion Cut's popularity to eventually give way to our more contemporary Round Cut diamonds. Through years of testing, Christopher Designs has developed a way to bring order to the chaos and reignite the Cushion's trademark fire. By applying the Crisscut facet configuration to a predetermined set of parameters, we have been able to provide our customers with a uniquely beautiful stone possessing an unmatched depth and stunning brilliance.

Based upon an independent gemological study comparing the emerald shaped Step Cut and the emerald shaped Crisscut (see image at left), it has been found that, under identical conditions, the Crisscut has dramatically more fire, brilliance, and scintillation.
